The throne can be moved to set the correct latitude.meridian – a fixed ring with a latitude scalemovable “equatorial” ring with an hour scalea movable declination scale for determining months (in the center of the device) – acting like a gnomon. Each month is divided into three thirds of 10 days each. The names of the months are symbolized by letters, e.g. O – October. In the middle is a tiny movable element that allows you to set the correct month and date.  To read the time, unfold the equatorial ring so that it lies in a plane perpendicular to the meridian. Then determine the latitude using the throne.  Set the correct date on the declination scale. Hang the device with the throne after setting the actual latitude where you are. The sun's rays will indicate the correct solar time. Please note that the official time may differ from the solar time.
